Back Pain Physiotherapist Milsons Point
Do you have back pain that keeps returning? While many believe that rest will alleviate the pain, research indicates that getting treatment and being taught how to move, strengthen and stretch correctly is most effective treatment.
Find the underlying cause of your back pain and keep it away.
Have you ever been bedridden by back pain so severe it stopped you in your tracks? Has it happened more than once?
Do everyday activities like standing, sitting, or gardening leave your back aching?
Physiotherapy can ease symptoms – muscle tightness, nerve irritation, inflammation, bulging discs, trigger points. But without treating the cause, pain tends to return. Often, back pain is part of a larger tangle: old injuries and compensations elsewhere that have shifted extra strain onto your spine.
A-J draws on 30+ years of clinical experience to find the real origin of your pain – assessing posture, past injuries, stiffness, habits, tension, and joint mobility to find the thread that unlocks lasting relief.
To truly treat and prevent recurring back pain, it’s essential to untangle what’s really causing it — not just manage where it hurts.
Low Back Pain – Connecting Above and Below
Low back pain can starts with a problem somewhere else entirely – it can be stiff hips/pelvis and a tight rib cage. Keep reading…
Your low back sits right in the middle of your hips and ribcage, it connects the two.
Think of your rib cage like a slinky – designed to rotate and move freely (see our blog on Thoracic Rings). Your hips, are also built to rotate with ease.
When rotation is restricted in either your hips or your thorax, your lower back often ends up compensating — moving in ways it isn’t really designed for. The low back is designed for bending forw, ard and extending back. Over time the compensation can result in pain that seems to come out of nowhere.
But there’s always an underlying cause to every pain. This is the tangle or tension in your body, we work to uncover – finding what’s really restricting your movement, so we can treat the true source of your back pain, not just where it hurts.
At Physio Body and Sole in Milsons Point, we treat the whole of you – restoring movement where it’s needed most.
Treatment Approach
Treatment for the lower back is most effective when it starts with a thorough, individualised assessment. Pinpointing the exact cause of your back pain is essential.
We begin with a detailed discussion – your history of injuries, past treatments, general health, and daily routines. From there, we assess your postural alignment and movement patterns.
Our focus is on finding where movement is genuinely restricted, since these restrictions often place extra stress on your back – the pain is often not where the problem or cause of that pain is. This is where the detective work begins: finding the thread that connects your pain to its real cause.
We also look for the right balance of flexibility and strength. Often, treatment overemphasises strengthening while neglecting the relaxation and lengthening muscles also need. Throughout the process, we teach you about your own body, so you leave with the understanding and tools to look after it yourself.
Our goal is simple: to untangle what’s really causing your pain, so your back or neck pain doesn’t come back.
