“Knee Health and Managing Arthritis” Workshop April – June 2024 (6 weeks)

“Finding Center – Body and Mind” Retreat – 31st Oct – 3rd Nov 2024 (3 days).

Our latest Workshop focuses on Knee arthritis and injury.  

Workshops provide an opportunity to explore in-depth particular issues and teach you ways to manage them yourself.

Our next Workshop is on Knee Care; optimising mobility, strength, balance and function. 

A-J, as a Physiotherapy and Yoga Therapist teaches you about your body and injuries with Physio knowledge, and gives exercises combining Physio and Yoga. Yoga is particularly good for knees as it is low impact, emphasises alignment, and mindfully teaches you to feel what muscles you are working. You will experience tools you can use to help yourself at home.

Sessions include theory and practical components. 6 weekly sessions of 1.5-2 hours duration.

Topics of future Workshops include:

  • Knee Alignment, Stability, Strength and Mobility.
  • Osteoporosis.
  • Back pain – how to prevent it, and if you have it, manage it.
  • Walking – efficient mechanics to prevent foot, knee, or hip pain.
  • Breathing to reduce back pain, relax the body and calm the mind.
  • Manage scoliosis and/or kyphosis.

“Finding Your Center – Body and Mind”

Retreat: 31st Oct – 3rd Nov 2024 

Find your center physically, emotionally and spiritually. This could also be “Finding your Balance”

Your Physical Center – is the point where your body is balanced. Feeling your ‘centre’ helps you maintain a good relaxed posture, with good balance. It can also help to iron out any excess curves such as scoliosis and round shoulders, or create curves if your back is flat.

There will be workshops on balancing and ‘centering’ your body, guided by Physiotherapist and Yoga teacher, A-J.

Emotional Center – find your inner calm. This is referred to as equanimity; where you are less disturbed by things that annoy you and less grasping of things you want, but don’t need! It can be useful to develop techniques to be more accepting of how things are. This is a way to avoid suffering.

Spiritual Center – What can you do to fully live according to your values? How is your relationship with yourself, with others and with the environment?  On retreat, you are given space to ponder these questions and hear how Yoga philosophers approached these questions.

Location: Wisemans Ferry (1 hour 15mins from Milsons Point).

Accommodation: Single rooms with private bathrooms each.

All nutritious meals are catered for.

Yoga classes and workshops are included.

Knee Workshop April-June 2024

Have you ever found yourself avoiding the stairs, walking down sideways, or dreading sitting in confined spaces? Have you had surgery, or a prior injury? This workshop is designed for you.

The workshop will include aspects of:

  • Mobility: Explore techniques to enhance the mobility of your knee, hip joint, and ankle. They work as a team.
  • Strengthening: Discover exercises designed to fortify the knee joint and target specific muscles responsible for kneecap stability.
  • Alignment: Understand knee alignment, variations according to anatomy, and how you can make your anatomy work most efficiently for you. Includes tracking of the kneecap.
  • Balance: Understand the significance of whole-body balance and how it impacts the well-being of your knees. This is a frequently under-managed area.
  • Lifestyle: Learn about how this contributes to the health of your knees.
  • Pain management: Pain is not correlated to tissue damage, it is more multidimensional.
