Meet A-J

Anna-Jane (A-J) is a physiotherapist with over 25 years of experience treating complex pain and stiffness. As a specialist sports and exercise physiotherapist and yoga teacher she loves using a holistic approach when treating you.

A-J Peterson has a passion, for not only treating your symptoms, but also finding the cause of your problem to help you heal from longstanding or reoccurring pain.

She works collaboratively with you to empower you to help yourself. She is located in a beautiful studio in Lavender Bay, Milsons Point, Sydney.

About A-J

  • A-J is a specialist Sports Physio with over 25+ years of experience working in private practice and has added so many extra qualifications that she now describes herself as a holistic physio
  • The combination of physio with yoga provides A-J with tools to fully assess your whole body, mental state, and lifestyle to get to the bottom of why you have ongoing pain.
  • A-J combines evidence-based physiotherapy with clinical experience and a biopsychosocial approach to treat pain or stiffness.
  • She aims to empower you to heal yourself. You can take control, and learn how to manage your body and pain.
  • Using an Integrated Therapeutic Approach AJ can assess your whole body for restrictions that are the cause of your symptoms. Pain is often the end result of restrictions elsewhere in the body.

Persistent or reoccurring pain requires a holistic, multidimensional approach to treatment.

My Story

I worked for some inspirational physios early in my career, who nurtured my passion for getting to the cause of the problem. I completed further studies in Exercise and Sports Science, Functional Anatomy, and Biomechanics and since then I have always continued to learn more. I have enjoyed being a team physio for football and netball clubs and toured with the Australian Ski Team as their physio.

I was awarded the title of Specialist Sports Physiotherapist in 1999.

Always with a thirst for knowledge, and wanting to expand beyond I added complementary therapies. These include Yoga teaching and therapy, craniosacral therapy, visceral therapy and an integrative approach using all these modalities to help you understand your problem, and treat it. I love helping you adjust your lifestyle for good health, and moving freely regardless of your age!

Have you been very active in sports? I enjoy treating pain resulting from an accumulation of injuries over years.

Your physical problems are often multifactorial;  they may be due to an imbalance or restriction elsewhere in your body, and may even lie with emotional or lifestyle causes.

Personally I have had my fair share of injuries. After multiple knee surgeries (from skiing) I took up Yoga. Yoga has changed my life on many different levels. The combination of Physio and Yoga keeps me fit and healthy and enjoying all the things I want to do.

I’m a mother, a daily yogi, a keen gardener, a Landscape Architect (studied taking a break from Physio), love traveling and experiencing different cultures and food, and most of all finding peace in nature.
