How are we different at Physio Body and Sole?
How We’re Different
At Physio Therapy Yoga, we believe lasting results come from understanding why you have pain—not simply treating where it hurts.
Our approach is different because we:
- Look beyond the painful area. We assess your whole body to identify the underlying contributors to your symptoms. Often, the source of pain is somewhere else.
- Treat the whole person. Movement, strength, breathing, stress, lifestyle and the nervous system all influence recovery. We consider these factors when developing your treatment plan.
- Integrate physiotherapy with therapeutic movement. Where appropriate, we use yoga-based movement principles alongside evidence-informed physiotherapy to improve movement quality, build resilience and reduce the risk of recurrence.
- Assess your breathing. Breathing patterns can contribute to muscle tension, spinal stiffness and persistent pain. Optimising breathing is often an important part of recovery.
- Empower you through education. We help you understand your body, recognise what feels right, and develop the skills to manage your condition with confidence—not just during treatment, but for years to come.
- Provide a personalised rehabilitation program. You’ll receive an individual digital exercise program tailored to your needs, with clear instructions and videos to support your progress between appointments.
Who We Help
We work with people who want more than a quick fix.
Our clients are often active adults who have persistent or recurring pain, have tried other treatments without lasting success, or want to stay strong, mobile and independent as they age.
Whether you’re returning to sport, enjoying yoga, walking, gardening, travelling, or simply wanting to move with greater ease, our goal is to help you move well—for life.
How long does treatment take?
For a simple problem it takes two to three sessions to resolve, while more complex conditions may take longer.
For complex or long standing problems; I know you don’t want to see me indefinitely, but neither is this a quick-fix situation! You need time for A-J to get to know your body and lifestyle to apply her knowledge…. to make real lasting change.
Also…learning to move differently needs repetition for it to be habitual.
Ask A-J, after your second appointment, how long treatment will take. She will be able to give you a more definitive answer.
How much does physiotherapy cost and what is the rebate?
We believe in transparent pricing, so our consultation fees are listed below:
A-J Peterson – Principal Physiotherapist
• Initial (60 min): $245
• Follow-up: $190
Ask about options for long appointments for complex conditions.
Yoga Therapy Packages available.
Anna Pavlova – Physiotherapist
• Initial (60 min): $180
• Follow-up: $155
Massage (60min): $135 (special rate)
Your initial consultation includes a comprehensive assessment (of symptoms and the causes), hands-on treatment, and a personalised treatment and exercise plan tailored to your needs.
Which physiotherapist should I book with?
Both A-J and Anna provide evidence-informed, holistic physiotherapy, taking the time to understand the underlying causes of your symptoms, not just the symptoms themselves.
A-J has over 30 years of clinical experience and advanced training in complex musculoskeletal conditions. She teaches anatomy to yoga teachers and is a yoga therapist.
Anna is a warm, perceptive and thorough physiotherapist with excellent clinical instincts and a genuine commitment to helping people understand their bodies and recover well. She works closely with A-J, enabling collaborative clinical reasoning and continuity of care within the Physio Therapy Yoga team.
If you’re unsure who is best suited to your needs, we’re happy to help you choose.

What is Integrative Therapy?
Integrative Therapy is the treatment of interrelated body parts and body systems.
Your body works together as an integrative whole. Everything is linked and interconnected.
We assess the whole of you, from head to toe. Reviewing other contributing factors like lifestyle, your nervous system (e.g, stress, sleep), work, past injuries, and treatments…everything that is relevant to help treat your problem.
Modern medicine often divides the body up into specialties. However, your body doesn’t work as separate parts, it works as an integrated whole.
Who do we help?
People who find our approach most helpful are;
– Active over 50s who have accumulated injuries over many years. Injuries stay in your body for years and we adapt around them. As we get used to the adaptation, we don’t even realise the stiffness remains. The adaptaions need to be traced in order to treat you effectively, and it can help you feel better than you have for years!
– Retirees who want to get fit after years of sitting for long hours.
– Anyone who wants to get more active or stay active for longer, their whole life. You don’t have to live with pain and stiffness just because you are getting older!
– Return to what you love doing after injury, walking efficiently, get up off the floor more easily, balance on one leg, do sports or practice yoga and more!
Contribute to your own healing by learning about your own body. We work together to help you regain physical health.
What are some trends you are seeing in your clients?
Many people have been prescribed mainly strengthening exercises, and despite diligently following their program are not feeling better. If muscular tension is causing the pain, pain can be made worse by strengthening before you have released the underlying tension. You need to be returned to a neutral starting point before commencing strength, or do it simultaneously with learning to relax tense muscles, and increase flexibility. It is important to balance flexibility and mobility with strength.
Many exercises are not be done correctly. It is easier to learn exercises when your therapist puts their hands on you to give you feedback as to whether you are using the correct muscle. There are quite a variety of exercises. It is important that your therapist assesses whether the correct muscles are turning on and off.
Physio is a good option before surgery. Many people go for surgery or take anti-inflammatories without ever consulting a Physio. It is useful to treat the cause of your pain, rather than just take away the symptom – or it can (often does) return! Physio has scientific evidence to back its efficacy, and it has no side effects.
